Setting the standard

NCEES is committed to setting the standard in uniform laws, licensing requirements, and professional ethics. This commitment is central to NCEES efforts to safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of the public.

The organization is made up of 70 licensing boards that regulate the engineering and surveying professions in the United States—located in each U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In 2017–18, the members of the Council continued to determine best practices for the licensure of engineers and surveyors and to promote their adoption in order to protect the public and improve uniformity among the states.
